Microcurrent Positional Tuina (MPT)
Dr. Finkelstein created Microcurrent Positional Tuina (MPT) for patients with musculoskeletal pain. MPT is added to treatments to relieve pain, increase mobility/movement, and speed up recovery. This system includes acupuncture, microcurrent electrical stimulation (ETPS), Positional Tuina and Postural Qigong. 

Oriental medicine assessment techniques determine which muscles and joints are asssociated with your condition. Tightness and tenderness in related acupuncture points is released by ETPS microcurrent and Positional Tuina stretches of muscles and joints.

Frequently, there is immediate improvement in mobility, movement, and reduction in pain. This phase of treatment is followed by acupuncture. Postural Qigong stretches are recommended for patients to maintain the improvement gained during the treatments.

ETPS  Microcurrent (Electro Therapeutic Point Stimulation)
Microcurrent is a very mild form of electrical stimulation. It is applied with a hand held unit at the same time as the Positional Tuina. For some sensitive patients, ETPS is used alone.

Positional Tuina/Chinese Acupressure Massage
Positional Tuina is a Chinese acupressure massage technique that is used at the same time as the microcurrent. It uses finger pressure on acupuncture points and muscles. Since this is a correctional technique, there may be some sensation felt during the procedure. This is always kept within each patient's tolerance. For a day or two after the MPT, there is sometimes a sensation of soreness or heaviness similar to a strong exercise workout.

Postural Qigong
Qigong stretches utilize slow, gentle movements to maintain the improvement gained during the treatment. Instructions are provided. Ergonomic suggestions involving correct positioning related to the patient's job, sport or other activities may also be recommended.

Chinese Herbology
Chinese herbs may be suggested. These are typically in pill or tincture form. They are prescribed according to Chinese Medical theory and diagnosis and are specific for the individual and condition being treated. Information on dosage and precautions are given at the time of the Chinese herbal prescription. Dietary suggestions may also be included.

Veterinary Acupuncture
Acupuncture, tuina and microcurrent are used to treat dogs and cats. Dr. Finkelstein has been treating animals for more than 20 years. It is necessary to have a referral from your veterinarian.

Preventive Health Care Services
In ancient China, healthy people saw their doctors on a regular basis. After examination, the doctor would recommend ways in which patients could maintain or improve their health. Frequently, patients would receive acupuncture "tune-ups." Health maintenance was considered so vital that patients would pay for preventive treatments. If they became ill, doctors did not charge patients for their treatment services. Although unable to implement the ancient payment strategy today, patients are advised about diet, exercise, Chinese herbology, ergonomics, stress management and can schedule "tune-up" acupuncture treatments.
